Social Identity Theory does not offer an easy blueprint for the eradication of human conflict; rather, it provides something far more valuable: a rigorous, unsparing, and scientifically validated mirror that reveals the cognitive machinery behind our collective tribalism. Only by profoundly understanding the unconscious mechanics through which we divide the world into “us” and “them” can we ever hope to consciously expand the boundaries of “us” to encompass the whole of humanity.
