Response Format and Scoring Mechanics

Each item is rated along a standardized multi-point response continuum:

  • 1 = Not at all / Strongly disagree [Helemaal niet van toepassing]
  • 2 = Slightly / Disagree
  • 3 = Moderately / Neutral
  • 4 = Considerably / Agree
  • 5 = Very strongly / Strongly agree [Helemaal wel van toepassing]

Composite score computation: Scores from all five items are summed and averaged to generate an overall Negative Ad Affect index ranging from 1.0 to 5.0 (or 1.0 to 7.0 if a 7-point format is utilized). Higher values signify stronger negative affective reactions.
